MasterCard is one of the credit card companies that many people recognize the name of. Like Visa, it is accepted almost everywhere. MasterCard has several different credit cards to offer, each with their own rewards.
The Standard MasterCard is for people who are newly establishing credit, or trying to improve their credit score. There are a few benefits that go along with this card. You can use this card worldwide, at numerous locations. You get MasterCard Global Service, which allows you to call them any day of the year to get help with lost or stolen cards, emergency replacement cards, emergency cash advances, account information, and help finding an ATM.
If your account is in good standing, you have registered your card, and you have not had to report more than two strange charges on your card in the past 12 months, then you are eligible for MasterCard Zero Liability. This is a protection if someone unauthorized uses your card.
You can also apply for a Gold MasterCard, a Platinum MasterCard, a World MasterCard and a World Elite MasterCard. Each of these types of credit cards offers the same benefits as the Standard MasterCard. All of these cards come with their own set of rewards.
Some of the rewards that come with at least one type of MasterCard include "Shopping Protection". You can extend the manufactures warranty for an extra year, or get reimbursed for a product that you purchased, and then found at a lower price. "Personal Assistance" includes a Concierge Service. You can use their "Personal Protection" to protect yourself against identity theft.
"Travel Assistance" includes access to Airport lounges, roadside assistance, travel assistance, and some special "Luxury Travel Benefits". The "Travel Protection" is a series of insurance protections. It includes things like reimbursement if your personal items are stolen from a hotel room, replacement of damaged or lost luggage, and financial assistance in the case of a car collision. It also protects you and your family from forfeiting unused deposits for things if your trip is cancelled.
